MDS Oman wins certificate of appreciation from Ooredoo Oman for Bousher Data Center achievement
Comprehensive Data Center Infrastructure solutions to help accelerate digital transformation
Mideast Data Systems Oman has won a certificate of appreciation for its hard work and dedication from Ooredoo Oman when implementing the major Bousher Data Center project, which officially opened in March 2021.
“Only when we dare to face the challenge, is when we excel the most,“ said Ahmad Birjawi, Managing Partner, MDS Oman. “Great job MDS Oman team – you made the whole Midis Group proud.”
On the company LinkedIn profile when the project was first implemented, MDS Oman wrote, “This was one of the largest Data Center projects undertaken in Oman and we were delighted to have been chosen to design it and implement it, adopting an innovative turn-key solution.”
To complete the project, the company had to implement world-class standards to ensure the safety of its employees working on the ground.
An MDS Oman spokesman added, “We are proud that we were able to complete the project in a record breaking 363 days while working under unprecedented conditions due to the pandemic outbreak.”
Ian Dench, Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo, said, “As part of our contribution to Oman’s Vision 2040, we continue to invest in cutting-edge infrastructure, and our state-of-the-art data center is set up to meet the growing demands for data. We are driving Oman’s digital transformation and taking our data services to the next level.”
The 2.5mw 7,000sqm three-level facility, situated in the south of the capital city, Muscat, was designed for 300 racks and was completed in less than 12 months.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Ooredoo, said, “The Data Center represents a major breakthrough in hosting and data processing, and will enhance our existing 5G infrastructure. We’re proud that we were not only able to complete the project within 12 months, a remarkable achievement given the constraints of the pandemic, but we did so using Omani resources and skills.”
The Ooredoo Data Center is part of the Qatari telecom company’s efforts to develop a modern infrastructure able to deal with the requirements of the rapidly-growing demand for hosting and digital data processing.
