Midis Group regional development philosophy, business culture and ethical approach were central in the decision in 2006 by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to name Midis in their first list of 100 Global Growth Companies.

The WEF Global Growth Companies are businesses which demonstrate a clear potential to become leaders in the global economy based on factors like a company’s business model, growth record, leadership and the market it serves. The Global Growth Companies form a key component of the World Economic Forum. The companies share leading ideas and insights on regional and industry agendas, cooperate in corporate citizenship and engage with peers in an exchange of best practices on scaling. [1]

“When Midis was named as a Global Growth Company, it was a certainly meaningful for the Group, and timely recognition that business and management innovation is taking place outside the usual Western European economies,” remembers Midis Chairman and CEO, Nabil Bustros. “For Midis it was a significant moment and we continue to value and develop the connections that World Economic Forum recognition has brought us.”

The World Economic Forum was established in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. It is independent, impartial and not tied to any special interests. The Forum strives in all its efforts to demonstrate entrepreneurship in the global public interest while upholding the highest standards of governance. Moral and intellectual integrity is at the heart of everything it does. [2]

The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas, principally through the headline-grabbing meetings of international leaders annually at Davos in Switzerland.

WEF Global Growth Companies are nominated because they exhibit important positive qualities. They are usually businesses which are expanding outside their traditional boundaries, with strong growth rates. They typically have revenues between US$100m and US$2bn, and are known for demonstrating industry leadership, and progressive management practices.
